Phase III took place in December 2013 and January 2014 and consisted of
five very small workshops held in Ottawa, Mississauga, Toronto, London
and Scarborough.
Who was invited?
About a 10-12 condo owners and directors who joined a hand full
of ministry officials, the consulting agency Canada's Public Policy
Forum and a couple of CCI affiliated lawyers.
There was no publicity informing condo owners about these meetings
aside from a couple of Tweets asking for owners to participate in the
Mississauga, Scarborough and London sessions.
Subject
The ministry wanted the participants to discuss two items:
1.
What the owners in attendance
thought were the most important features Condo Office would be offering.
2.
How best to sell the new Condo
Fees to the owners.
I think they sense that there will be a lot of resistance to a new
monthly Condo Tax used to pay for a Condo Office that many, if not
most, condo owners think will be of little value to them.
Heaven knows
that many, if not most, condo owners resist any increase of fees no
matter how badly needed they are.
Of course, it will be only the owners that run afowl of the board
who
will need expert assistance and hopefully they will call Condo Office
and get the assistance they need to keep them out of the courts.
